Photo Shelf

Made By Me for Monday!!!

Hello everyone!!!  I hope you all had a fantastic weekend and are looking forward to a wonderful week!  Did you do anything creative this weekend???  We had some super gorgeous Spring sunshine to enjoy.  It was wonderful!

Just a quick note, I have had BUNCHES of emails about my craft room since I posted it last week.  Did you miss the post?  No worries!  CLICK HERE to see it :)  Anyway, I have decided that in the next week or two, I will do a part II Craft Room post.  Maybe that will help answer some of the questions.  Oh, and THANKS BUNCHES for the oh, so, kind comments about my creative space.  You all made me smile!

Onto this week's creation!!!  First of all, you are going to have to excuse the fact that I forgot to take a before picture!  OOPS!  Sometimes I just get so ExcItEd to get started on a creation that I forget to take a before picture!  But, we all know what an unfinished shelf looks like right???  SO, all you need to do is picture the shelf in an unfinished state :)  Okay, got it pictured?

Well, here is what it looks like now:
My paint color is Mississippi Mud.  I use it a lot because it matches my home decor so well.

I LOVED this shelf because of the picture openings.  Anything that lets me display pictures makes me happy!  I added strips of scrapbook paper around the "frames" with mod podge to make the photos stand out even more :)

This is the top of the shelf.  I mod podged scrapbook paper to it.  The paper has just a slight glittery look to it which I absolutely LOVE! Oh, and it matches my bedroom perfectly (which BTW is where I am hanging the shelf).

I inked the edges of the shelf lightly before I mod podged it.
Here it is all finished.  I added my boys names in vinyl on top of their pictures.  I used my handy dandy Cricut Machine to cut those.  Couldn't live without it!!!

I will be linking up at some of these parties HERE this week.  Show them some love!  It is a lot of work to host linky parties each week!

I hope you will come back and join in on my linky parties too!
Wednesday: Wandering Wednesday Blog Hop
Thursday: Thrilling Thursday Linky Party
Friday: Fun w/Food Friday Linky Party
See YOU there!!!

Mud Room Shoe Stand

I don't know if it is just my house, but my kids seem to think they can just take their shoes off wherever they want. I find shoes kicked off at the front door, shoes in the entryway, shoes in the family room, shoes in the bathroom. . .you get the idea. It drives me CRAZY!

I decided that I would make a shoe stand that would hold the shoes in the mudroom. The idea is that when kiddos come in the door and through the mudroom, that they will take their shoes off and place them on the shelf. We will see if it actually works :) Here's hoping!

Once again, I forgot to take a BEFORE picture! I am getting bad at that! I just get so excited to start my projects that I forget to snap a before pic. Anywho, this shelf below looks exactly like what mine looked like, except mine only has three shelves on it. I found mine at my local craft store for 75% OFF!!! WAHOO! Gotta love that!

Next I took some paint, some scrapbook papers, some mod podge (I don't know what I would do without the stuff!), and some sand paper. I sanded down some of the rough spots, painted, added the scrapbook paper with mod podge, then cut a vinyl "Welcome" out with my Cricut and placed it on the top shelf.

Super easy. Super fun. Super practical! Now if I can just get my kiddos to actually put their shoes there instead of all over the house, we will be set!

Here is what my Shoe Stand looks like now:So far, so good. The kids have actually been using it! :)

I will be linking up to some of THESE LINKY PARTIES and some of THESE BLOG HOPS this week. Pop on by and show them some love!

Also, don't forget to come by this week for other exciting posts! Wednesday is Wandering Wednesday (a great way to meet new blog friends) and Thursday is THRILLING THURSDAY where YOU get to link up YOUR creations! Can't wait to see what you have been working on this week :)

Flashback Friday~Shelf Makeover

I took an unfinished shelf from my local craft store.  One just like the type here.  I forgot to take a picture of the one I used before I started redoing it.  Ooops!  So, this is the closest thing I could find to what I used.

I flipped the shelf upside down and glued some unfinished balls to the bottom of the shelf.  Then I painted it and added some scrapbook paper with mod podge.  I added matching baskets and VOILA, I had a handy dandy storage space to store some more of my craft supplies.  It looks cute and works great!

If you want to see a video clip of this shelf and some others I did, CLICK HERE.  Have a great weekend!  Now go and get creative!!!  :)
