A couple of weeks ago I was at a "posh" boutique. I was checking out what they had just for fun. Their prices were CrAzY. I saw this uber cute pair of denim shorts that had lace trim on the cuff. SO CUTE! I flipped the price tag over and tried not to gasp. They wanted $78.00-110.00 for them. For shorts? Um, nope. Not gonna do it. When I got home later that week, I asked my daughter if she had a pair of old pants that I could make into a pair of shorts for her. Luckily she did :)
After cutting off the legs to the length I wanted, I ironed the cuff and then pinned the lace on.
Then I got out my handy dandy sewing machine. It has been gathering dust lately, so it was fun to pull it out and actually use it :)
After they were sewn, I decided to fray the edges a bit. Just to give them that little bit of juxtaposition between the lace and the worn look. I liked it much better with the fraying.
Then I took the bottom half of the pants that I had cut off and the leftover lace and made a rosette with it. My daughter can wear it in her hair or clip it onto a t-shirt or something. It turned out super cute!
Here is what they look like finished and being worn on her date that night :)
Super cute and "sew" easy to do. They only cost me $2.00 for the lace. MUCH better than the $78.00+ they wanted at the boutique.
