It was a pretty big door and it was solid oak. It didn't have a price on it, so I asked and it was only 5 bucks. Um, can you say, SOLD? I felt like I had just won the lottery. Okay, well maybe not the lottery, but I felt pretty happy about my purchase.
I brought my cabinet door home and grabbed my supplies:
I painted the frame of the door with a light linen color, then added my good ol' Elmer's Glue for a crackle look and painted a color called Mississippi Mud on the top. When that dried, I dry brushed a dark brown on the top to give a patina affect. This picture is before I did the dry brushing.
Then I grabbed my handy-dandy can of chalkboard paint and painted the center of the door with chalkboard paint. I did three coats.
I added some vinyl lettering that I cut out with my Cricut.
I drilled two holes in the top and then hung it on my wall. I covered the screws with two jewels so you can't see the screw heads :)
It has been great fun! We have put different quotes on it almost everyday and even used it to welcome people to the Twifest Party we had last week. Such a simple idea that has been VERY useful as well!
**In case you hadn't noticed I moved my blog from Live~Laugh~Love~Create over to Paisley Passions. If you used to follow me on my old blog, I would LOVE it if you would follow me here now. Also, if you have never followed me, I would LOVE it if you did! :) **
